False Claims Act — Qui Tam Whistleblower Lawsuit
The False Claims Act allows private citizens ("relators") to file lawsuits on behalf of the US government against contractors or individuals defrauding the federal government. The whistleblower receives 15–30% of any recovery. The DOJ has recovered over $75 billion through False Claims Act cases since 1986. Common fraud areas include Medicare/Medicaid billing fraud, defense contractor fraud, and federally funded program fraud.
